Proposal submitting has been opened to private entities – corporations or organizations – to administer and operate the Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center situated at Kaafu Atoll Himmafushi.
The announcement was made in government’s gazette، in which it was stated the decision to contract a private third party for operating the center was due to the high expenditure، and the expenses will be lowered and made cost efficient if an experienced and capable third party was to operate the center.
With this، government will then be able to act as a regulator، and base monitoring on such rehabilitation centers.
According to the announcement on the gazette، special allowances will be provided to the winning private contractor to run the facility، which includes giving the facility and the surrounding plots without any rental fee subjected as well as MVR 7000 per each patient sent to the facility by the state، among other benefits.
In addition to this، the gazette had also detailed that employees who wish to work at the rehabilitation center under the administration of the private contractor – who wins the proposal – will be released from their government employment contract in order to give them the opportunity to work according to their wish.
The due for submitting proposals are until the 18th of September.
