Administration cautions against non-essential travel to China

The Government of Maldives has cautioned against non-essential travel to China and other countries that have confirmed cases of novel coronavirus. The Maldivian government made the statement as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus outbreak.
Speaking in a press conference held to disseminate information regarding the measures taken against the spread of coronavirus, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid assured the Maldivian government will take every necessary measure without any hesitation.
Furthermore, at the press conference, Minister of Tourism described coronavirus as a global issue, adding the government prioritises the safety of the citizens.
All Maldivians are urged to register at the resident embassies of Maldives or at the closest embassy when travelling abroad. Maldivians living abroad are also advised to follow instructions from the public health officials of the respective host country.
