Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has stated Maldives will always support China in its efforts to control the outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19.
In a meeting held with Ambassador of China to Maldives Zhang Lizhong, Speaker Nasheed assured support to China in the efforts to contain the spread of the viral disease. The speaker and the ambassador also discussed the close friendship Maldives has had with China over the years. Speaker Nasheed noted the support received from China every time Maldives needed assistance.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Lizhong shared the efforts of China in mitigating and containing the virus. Noting the Government of Maldives donated 1 million tuna cans to China as food relief to the affected regions, the ambassador thanked Maldives for its support and assistance.
Maldivians have also been expressing their solidarity with China on various social media platforms.
