Globally celebrated environment event for promoting awareness towards global warming and energy consumption، “Earth Hour” will be celebrated in Maldives this year as well.
This year، “Earth Hour” celebrations is set on 28th March، Saturday starting from 20:30hrs till 21:30hrs.
Organizers of “Earth Hour” reports Scouts Association of Maldives will be in-charge of the event management in Maldives.
Furthermore، they disclosed the organizers are currently in discussions with government entities، private corporations as well as NGOs to extend their assistance in promoting the even nationwide.
Last year’s “Earth Hour” celebration in Male’، Vilingili and Hulhumale’ alone saved a total of 2.8 Mega Watts of electricity.
Earth Hour was first celebrated in Maldives back in 2009.
