China will be providing their assistance and support in the construction of Male’-Hulhule’ Bridge، says Assistant Director General of Department of Foreign in China’s Commerce Ministry Wong Yongpuk.
Speaking after signing two agreements regarding the bridge construction، at Housing Ministry yesterday، Wong said such a huge project undertaken by two countries depict the strong bond of the two countries.
He assured that the work will be completed within the time frame given.
Bridge is constructed 1.39km long، 20.3m wide، with two separate lanes for vehicles going in opposite directions، separate lane for motorbikes، separate lane for bicycles and a separate lane for pedestrians.
The project costs $300 million، from which $100 million is granted by Chinese government، $170 million is provided as a soft loan by the Chinese Government and the remaining $30 million is spend from Maldives’ state budget.
