Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) decides to form alliance with Adaalath Party، after the latter had expressed their wish to hold joint discussions and work together in the political arena.
MDP made the decision a while back، following an immediate meeting of MDP national congress held to decide on the matter، the decision was approved by the vote of all 55 members present.
The motion was also passed by MDP National Congress’ administrative committee as well.

In tonight’s congress meeting، MDP members had discussed and debated praising Adaalath Party for their continuous effort to uphold the religion.
Prior to this، Adaalath Party President Sheikh Imran Abdulla had sent a letter to MDP stating they wish to hold meetings in order to form a possible alliance with the motive of changing the current turmoil-state of the country.

During the meeting، Chairperson Ali Waheed stated MDP will work alongside Adaalath Party in the same manner as their other ally، Jumhooree Party، which is within the constitutional boundaries.
