Criminal Court has yet again tabled and then delayed the verdict hearing on Defence Minister Major General Rtd. Moosa Ali Jaleel، Ex-Defense Minister Tholhath Ibrahim Kileyfaanu and Colonel Ziyad.
The three individuals were pressed with terrorism charges by the State allegedly for abducting and isolating the Chief Judge of Criminal Court، Abdulla ‘Gaazee’ Mohamed in 2012.
The court has stated the presiding bench has decided to issue verdicts on Jaleel، Tholhath and Ziyad. However، the court did not state why the separate hearings were delayed.
The hearing for the three individuals were initially tabled for Monday night.
If they are proven guilty of the terrorism charges، they will face a sentence of 10 to 15 years in prison.
Former President and the leader of opposition MDP، Mohamed Nasheed، also a defendant of the same terrorism case was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
