A hearing of the criminal case against Ahmed Nazim, Member of Parliament for Diggaru Constituency and also the Deputy Speaker of the People’s Majlis, was held today. The case is centered on the issue of alleged deceptive dealings conducted by a company in which Naazim holds shares. According to one of the charges leveled against Naazim by the prosecution, Namira Engineering and Trading Company deceptively used the name of Tech Media Services, without the knowledge of the latter, to bid for a government venture in June 2005. The bid was won by Namira, and at the time, Naazim was the Managing Director of the company. The other case is also about a similar issue, which occurred in December 2003.
According to the Criminal Court, today’s hearing involved presentation of cases by both parties in relation to documentary evidence produced by both. The hearing was previously set for the 29th of this month.
