Dhidhdhoo’s cargo boat runs aground with passengers, goods worth MVR 1M

The largest cargo vessel from Dhidhdhoo, Haa Alifu atoll, ran aground on Sunday evening while transporting a significant number of people and goods valued at over a million Rufiyaa.
Police informed Sun that a boat en route to Haa Alifu atoll from Male' city, carrying numerous individuals, was reported to have run aground near the uninhabited Vavathi island in Noonu atoll at 23:25.
Reports indicate that children and women were among those on board, and police are currently addressing the situation.

The ship was transporting people from Haa Alifu and Haa Dhaalu atolls, though the precise number of individuals on board remains unconfirmed. However, the vessel was carrying a substantial quantity of goods loaded from Male'.
Sun has learned that the vessel involved is named 'Mega Hoara' from Dhidhdhoo. This large vessel, which took seven years to build, is the largest cargo vessel in the atoll.
The boat commenced services in September of last year.
