Habib Bank Ltd (HBL) of Pakistan is to open its first branch outside of capital Male in the reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale.
The bank’s country manager Wajid Ali Shah told Mihaaru that Habib Bank’s Hulhumale branch will be opened July 31.
“All the services provided in Male will be available at the new branch, which is the first one we’re opening outside of Male,” he said, elaborating that HBL will establish ATMs and provide customers with accounts and other financial aid at the Hulhumale branch.
“We have aided much in progressing the Maldives’ economy during our time. Over the past days, we have expanded the bank’s services,” he said.
Wajid added that the official opening ceremony of HBL’s Hulhumale branch has been planned for mid-August.
HBL had opened its first branch in the Maldives in 1976. The bank currently operates 25 branches in various countries.
