Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) have begun work on the renovation and upgrade of the tsunami monument area.
On a post on social media, The Minister of Housing, Construction and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib said the sheet piles at the area has been heavily depreciated and subject to erosion. As such, new sheet piling work will commence in the area. Furthermore, repair work on the quay wall will proceed with the intent of making the area more welcoming and public friendly.
The minister said these efforts are part of a broader government effort to develop various community spaces and parks at the nation’s capital, Male’ City.
The government’s effort extends beyond this region. Currently, Sultan Park and Republic Square are currently closed for renovations. Additionally, the Rasfannu Beach is also being renovated.
