A mosque in remembrance of the late Sheikh Ibrahim Fareed Ahmed has been inaugurated in Bangladesh.
The mosque was officially opened by Sheikh Fareed’s two sons, Abdullah Fareed and Abdul Rahman, and has a capacity of 300 individuals.
At 53, the late Sheikh Ibrahim Fareed Ahmed passed on June 9th 2025 at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia, while on a journey to spread religious faith.
Following his passing, Khidhumaiy, the non-governmental organisation he was a part of, set out to establish a mosque in Bangladesh in his honour, with a fundraiser opened to the public under this prerogative. The USD 49,291.58 donation goal was reached in record time.
Due to strong public demand, the organisation has announced plans to construct a mosque memorialising Sheikh Fareed in Maldives as well. This mosque will be located in Hulhumale’ Phase three, with a capacity of 2,500 worshippers.
Sheikh Fareed is a prominent figure in the Maldives’ religious sector, gaining the trustworthiness and respect of many. These mosques will play an important role in honouring his legacy, the organisation has stated.
