Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu has emphasised that sports play a vital role in building a healthy society and shaping the moral character of individuals.
Speaking on a programme aired by Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu, the Minister said sports provide valuable lessons for all ages, teaching important qualities such as respect, teamwork, punctuality and adherence to moral standards. He stressed that such values must be instilled in children, adding that a generation raised on these principles will not only produce great athletes but also foster a society that promotes health and well-being.
The government is working hard to achieve this vision by launching major initiatives to establish fitness centres and outdoor gyms across the country.
