His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended greetings to His Majesty Naruhito, Emperor of Japan, His Excellency Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, the Government, and the people of Japan, on the occasion of Japan's National Day.
In his letters to the Emperor and Prime Minister of Japan, the President noted the long-standing friendship between the Maldives and Japan, founded on mutual respect, trust, and shared values. He expressed gratitude for Japan's continued contribution to the development of the Maldives across various sectors and affirmed the Government's dedication to deepening bilateral ties and advancing the partnership between the two countries.
President Dr Muizzu also extended his best wishes for the good health and wellbeing of the Emperor and Prime Minister, as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Japan.
In Japan, the National Day marks the birthday of the reigning Emperor, which is currently February 23.
