Police officers on patrol detained two people on Saturday night, after they were found carrying a cardboard box filled with dozens of beer cans into Hulhumale’ on a dinghy boat.
The police said the two were seen by patrolling officers at around 10:00 pm on Saturday disembarking from a dinghy boat under the Reethigasmagu bridge, which links Hulhumale’ Phase I and Phase II, while carrying a cardboard box.
The two were identified as:
Bahar Uddin, 34, Bangladesh
Tuck Bahadur Rilamy, 34, Nepal
According to the police, one of the suspects had attempted to flee upon seeing the officers.
The police detained both men and searched the cardboard box, inside which they found 72 beer cans.
The case is under further investigation by the police.
