In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry said prince Salman had departed Saudi Arabia on an official visit to the Maldives, India, Pakistan and Japan. The visit would be a continuation of the approach by Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud to communicate with world leaders for the interest of the Saudi people, the ministry said. The ministry stressed that prince Salman was invited to the Maldives by President Abdulla Yameen. Presidential spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz Ali also confirmed prince Salman’s visit to the Maldives, but he declined to reveal details. Prince Salman is now in Pakistan. Haveeru understands that prince Salman would be arriving in the Maldives next week.
