Former President Mohamed Nasheed is scheduled to travel to Dhidhdhoo island in Haa Alif atoll on Friday.
He is to return to capital Male' the next day.
RaajjeMV understands that the former President will be meeting with his supporters in the island during his visit.
Nasheed had returned to the Maldives on the 01st of November, nealy three since living in self-exile after having been granted political asylum in Britian. He was issued a 13-year jail sentence on terror charges in March 2015. Thousands had gathered in the capital city to welcome the ex-President back home and streets of the capital city were streaked in yellow on the day of his arrival.
His first trip after returning was to southernmost Addu City, he ended the three-day trip on Thursday.
While Nasheed is scheduled to travel to Dhidhdhoo island on Friday, the island has a majority of main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) supporters. Nasheed is scheduled to travel to more islands in the outlying atolls in the near future, following requests pouring in from outlying atolls supporters.
No further details of Nasheed’s Dhidhdhoo trip has been revealed.
