The water supply to three floors in Fenaka Corporation's main office has been disconnected due to non-payment of water bills spanning four years.
Located at the Ports Complex, an MPL building, Fenaka's headquarters operates on three floors of the structure, collectively accumulating unpaid water bills since 2019.
Despite repeated requests from MPL to settle the outstanding bills, Fenaka reportedly ignored the instructions, leading to the decision to cut off the water supply.
MPL expressed the intention to disconnect water due to Fenaka's failure to clear its overdue water bills.
Fenaka is embroiled in one of the major corruption scandals during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Complaints have surfaced regarding delays in payments to private companies involved in Fenaka's projects. Fenaka's debt has reached MVR 1.9 billion, with MVR 1.4 billion owed to private entities, according to Ahmed Saeed Mohamed, the company's then Managing Director.
