Maldives Records Over 100,000 Italian Tourists in 2025

The Maldives has welcomed over 100,000 tourists from Italy so far this year, making it the fourth largest source market for the country’s tourism sector.
According to the Daily Update Report of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, a total of 1.4 million tourists visited the Maldives as of 17 August. This is a 9 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Of this, visitors from Italy accounted for 7.2 percent, with 101,051 tourists recorded from the country. Last year, Italy ranked fifth among source markets.
So far this year, four countries have contributed over 100,000 tourists. They are:
* China: 217,041 tourists
* Russia: 167,418 tourists
* United Kingdom: 129,371 tourists
* Italy: 101,051 tourists
So far in August, 114,509 tourists have visited the Maldives. This is an increase of 4.6 percent compared to the same period last year, averaging 6,736 tourists per day.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, the majority of tourists stayed at resorts, with 1,034,119 tourists choosing this option. Guesthouses hosted the second largest group, with 308,095 tourists opting for this type of accommodation.
The government has set a target of attracting 2.3 million tourists this year. Based on current figures, approximately 900,000 additional visitors are required to reach this goal.
