Two Bangladeshi workers have been detained from Male’ on suspicion of kidnapping and assaulting an individual.
The two suspects, both aged 37, were brought before the Criminal Court for their remand hearing on Saturday.
The court ordered for the duo to be remanded in custody for 15 days.
At the court hearing, the police said that both suspects were arrested from the scene of the crime and had actively participated in kidnapping and assaulting the victim.
Court documents show both suspects are undocumented.
The police also told the court that the victim sustained injuries in the incident, and submitted photos from the crime scene as well as photos of the injuries sustained by the victim as evidence against the suspects.
However, the police have yet to disclose any other details regarding the case.
