President states arrangements will be made for council to benefit from protected Fodhdhiparu lagoon

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that arrangements will be made for the council to receive benefits from the protected Fodhdhiparu lagoon near N. Fodhdhoo. He made this statement while addressing Fohdhoo residents during his tour of the inhabited islands of South Miladhunmadulu Atoll.
Speaking to the island community this morning, the President noted that, as the lagoon is under the protection of the Ministry of Tourism Environment, a framework will be developed to enable the council to generate income through a management plan formulated in collaboration with the relevant ministries.
During his address, the President also highlighted the launch of several key developmental initiatives on the island. He noted that practical work on the long-awaited Fodhdhoo harbour project commenced today, fulfilling a 40-year aspiration of the community. Additionally, he laid the foundation stones for the island’s new Police Post and Fitness and Recreation Centre.
President Dr Muizzu further assured the community that efforts would be made to enhance healthcare services on the island. He stated that by the time the new health centre is completed, laboratory services would be expanded, along with other essential upgrades, to ensure that residents no longer need to travel to nearby islands for medical care.
Concluding his remarks, the President reaffirmed his commitment to the island’s development and stated that his next visit to Fodhdhoo would be to celebrate the completion of the ongoing projects with the people.
