Dhiraagu named Across Maldives' digital partner

Local telecom company Dhiraagu has signed as the exclusive digital partner of Across Maldives, an attempt by Ocean Six Fifty to make a world record.
The dive is going to be attempted by Maldivian diver Shafraz Naseem, who already holds a world record for the longest scuba dive in Asia, after diving for 50 hours in 2022.
The Across Maldives attempt will see Shafraz diving from the northern most atoll to the southern most atoll of the Maldives. A total of two records will be attempted in the event in two separate phases. Phase one includes diving from Hulhumalé to Malé by diving 14 kilometres. The second phase is where Shafraz would dive from HA. Thuraakunu to Addu City - a whopping 460 kilometre distance.
The aim of the event is to showcase the beauty of Maldives' seas to the world and bring the threats to the country's environment to the world's attention. The event is also expected to help identify the impacts of climate change on the environment and gather important information throughout the journey.
Dhiraagu's Director, Brand and Marketing Communications Mohamed Mirshan Hassan said the company is committed to protecting and maintaining Maldives' marine environment as part of its CSR initiatives and that it is a pleasure to cooperate with such an initiative.
Mirshan said he hopes more awareness is created about the negative impacts of climate change on the environment through the event and that this would encourage more activities to protect the oceans.
"Dhiraagu is always working to encourage such important activities to protect the environment in Maldives and provide all the assistance available through technology." He said.
