Imran Abdulla, the home minister and leader of the Adhaalath Party, stated that that a member of his party will be sworn in as the president of the Maldives in 2033.
Imran made the remark via a tweet in which he shared images from the Adhaalath Party council meeting that took place last night to create the party’s 10-year strategic plan.
The party’s 10-year strategic plan was approved during last night’s meeting. The plan covers the party’s internal structure, party branches, public relations, party policies, elections, the party’s finances, as well as its ties with both domestic and international governments, and party membership.
The Adhaalath Party had declared that it would field a candidate in the upcoming presidential election, which is scheduled for the following year. Adhaalath Party, which supported President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the most recent elections held in 2018, is now a component of the coalition government now being led by MDP.
