President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that preparations are underway to resume the series of community meetings with residents.
He made the remarks during one of the regular press conferences held at the President’s Office.
The President stated that the community meetings are expected to recommence from June onwards, with the aim of listening closely to residents’ concerns. The engagements will include public consultation sessions for individual wards of Malé, meetings with stakeholders from various sectors, as well as visits to islands across the atolls.
“We are working to hold these meetings, God willing, provided there is sufficient time and no official travel commitments. They will be conducted as soon as possible, at least once a week. Sector-specific consultations, including with stakeholders from the tourism and fisheries industries, as well as other professions, have also been finalised,” he said.
The President added that the community meetings play an important role in shaping government policy.
“We always want to work closely with residents. This ensures that our efforts are aligned with their vision. It also allows many previously unreported issues to be identified and resolved,” he noted.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu further stated that his aim is to communicate the Government’s vision to the public in the most transparent manner possible.
