Hearing of Former President Nasheed to be held again on Thursday night

Another hearing of the case، the former president issuing to arrest and detain the Chief Judge of the Criminal Court، Abdulla Ghazi، was held tonight and is scheduled to continue tomorrow night.
In tonight’s hearing، a police officer، who was a state witness، claimed that Nasheed did state that “Abdulla Ghazi، needs to be isolated” but he did not hear an “order” for the detention of Abdulla Ghazi.
The police officer affirmed that the utterance was delivered when police officers were called upon to a meeting on 18th January 2012.
Another state witness، also a police officer، confirmed that Nasheed had said that Abdulla Ghazi must not be near 100ft from the court.
The lawyers of the Nasheed had asked the witnesses whether they were called upon PG. In the response، the witnesses confirmed that they did go to PG and they were briefed by PG’s lawyers. After this statement made by the witnesses، the lawyers of Nasheed had raised question of credibility of the statements.
In tonight’s hearing، the lawyers of Nasheed had requested for a reduced sentence for the custody of Nasheed، which was denied by Jury.
The former president Nasheedh is detained on terrorism charges for arresting and detaining the Chief Judge of the Criminal Court، Abdulla Ghazi.
