A strong earthquake hit the Chinese region of Xinjang on Friday، with at least six people believed dead and more than 20 injured، media reports said، citing local authorities.
Reuters had reported that at least six are reported dead، along with thousand homes damaged in the quake.
The earthquake، which happened around 9 a.m. local time، measured 6.4 in magnitude، the U.S. Geological Survey said، though the China Earthquake Networks Center put it at 6.4.
The shocks rattled buildings in the remote rural area in the far west of China، which is populated mainly by Muslim Uighurs.
