Minister Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim is an Environment Champion” says Vice President of Maldives, Mr. Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor. Vice President said this while speaking at the opening ceremony of “Sixth Regional 3R Forum in Asia and the Pacific” as a Guest of Honour. In his speech he highlighted that Minister Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim is a hardworking and vibrant leader who contributes to the environment potentially. He also announced the National 3R Award, an honour given from next year to tourist resorts that meets certain standards.
He also said that efforts of the resorts of Maldives are recognized by the international community, and have won various international accolades for conserving the environment. He also mentioned that many resorts have taken steps beyond the mandatory requirements to protect and conserve the fragile ecosystems of Maldives. He thanked all the resorts and for the cooperation given by the Private Sector in promoting the Tourism industry of Maldives.
