2018 will be marked as golden year of tourism: Zameer

Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer has stated that 2018 will be a golden year of tourism.
Speaking in the ceremony held in Ibrahim Nasir International Airport this morning to welcome the 750,000th visitor to the Maldives, Minister Zameer said that the biggest boost to the sector would be the development of the airport.
Zameer said that the development of the second runway and passenger terminal will be completed by 2016 and will usher in the golden age of tourism.
He added that in spite of the brexit chaos in Europe, further developing the tourism sector is the biggest focus and that the results were being seen. Minister Zameer said that though this was the off season, the arrivals were at a reasonable level and is expected to increase once the high season begins.
