Tourism Minister Ahmed Adeeb denies the provision of an automobile which was gifted to First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim.
Adeeb’s rebuttal comes amid South-Galolhu MP Ahmed Mahloof’s accusations on Tourism Minister for the provision of a Mercedes-Benz brand luxury car for a worth of USD 80،000، which he had gifted to First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim. Adeeb assured the luxury car was not of his purchase، but it was acquired by Madam Fathimath on her own finance.
Tourism Minister stated، “Madam Fathun [Fathimath] comes from a wealthy background، the car which he [Mahloof] accuses me of buying for her was actually purchased by Madam Fathun، herself، she can afford it. She had spent from her own savings for her husband، President Yameen’s presidency elections campaign as well”.
In addition to this، Adeeb also claimed Mahloof’s accusations، are a political jabs at First Lady، saying “this is surely not expected of someone like Mahloof، and it is particularly an impudent act، these are the reasons why women are skeptical to enter into politics”.
The friction between Adeeb and Mahloof، had intensified in recent heated verbal exchanges between the two. Tourism Minister Ahmed Adeeb has strongly criticized Mahloof، asserting that he had personally assisted the MP on various occasions، however Mahloof’s recent attacks are a rather a personal-grudge match than political.
Furthermore، Adeeb explains Mahloof’s earlier attempts to leave PPM، but he was reached by Adeeb as well as various others to divert the South-Galolhu MP from leaving PPM. Adeeb stated this on a mocking note، quoted as he said، “He was previously attacked with “black magic”، but well-wishers and other members of the party had assisted him and requested him to stay، by aiding and assisting، in other words، he received “reloads” to stay in party”.
