Elections Commission has declared that the Adhaalath initiated protest in collaboration with Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) cannot be considered as a peaceful protest.
The statement was made in a tweet posted by EC.

Riots emerged in the protests since sundown of Friday.
Several Police officers were attacked in the protest held last night and two police officers condition is serious and has been sent abroad for further treatment. Some of the protesters have also been injured while trying to control the protests.
In the protest held، Police informed that 193 protesters have been detained including Adhaalath leader Sheikh Imran Abdulla، MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed and JP deputy leader Ameen Ibrahim.
