Voters say "Yes" to release Nasheed on Vaguthu Poll

The public poll opened by Vaguthu Online has shown that majority has voted to release former President Mohamed Nasheed، who has been sentenced for 13 years in prison on terrorism charges for ‘kidnapping’ criminal court sitting chief judge Abdulla ‘Gaazee’ Mohamed in 2012.
With 55% voted YES to ‘Release Former President Mohamed Nasheed’، the poll ended 00:00 tonight. From the total voters 2438 said yes، on releasing Nasheed.
The remaining، 45%، 2028 said Nasheed need to be kept in prison.
Among the commentors who said YES to release، many said President Nasheed، a man loved by a majority of the people in the Maldives، should be released for his support.
Others said the trial was unfair، therefore، he should be released.
Noting that ‘all bad things in Maldives is because of him’، the ones who supported his imprisonment said Nasheed should be kept in jail for his life.
Other comments say that if Nasheed is released، all the other convicts should be treated the same – released.
While ex-President Nasheed was sentenced for 13 years in prison on terrorism charges، he has been transferred to home detention for medical purposes.
