The government has decided to hold a special ceremony on the 20th of this month at the Alimas Carnival to mark the 1 year since the inception of the current government.
This was announced at a press conference held at Nasandhura Palace Hotel by the campaign office of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
They stated that from tomorrow on wards special activities will be held until the 20th of this month as a count down for the day.
Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed said that many projects under hiatus will be resumed. He said that many machinery have been brought to Maldives according to the statistics from the customs service and this shows that many projects will be resumed.
Mohamed Saeed said that the works on the second phase of Hulhumale’ will be also commenced within three to four weeks.
He also noted that the dollar shortage issue has also been resolved by the government now.
The Minister stated that Ibrahim Nasir International Airport will be developed to a state of the art airport which can accommodate 5 million passengers a year. He also said that the Hulhumale’ bridge project will be also commenced in the near future.
