The deputy leader of JP, Dr. Hussain Rasheed have said that the Elections Commission is withholding the party funds to prevent parties from operating.
Speaking at joint press conference held by opposition parties to raise concerns about the decision of EC, Dr. Hussain Rasheed said that there will be no valid reason to withhold the funds for JP.
He further said that, if there are areas where parties need to correct, EC can take some actions but they cannot withhold the party funds.
“Even government institutions also have a lot of problems. But budget cannot be withheld due to that. That never happens even” said Dr. Hussain. He urged the government to release the funds.
All parties except MDA took part in the press conference.
In addition, Dr.Hussain said that everyone in a household cannot be punished when one person commits a crime, but EC is using this method by punishing all the parties for the mistake of one.
In the press conference, AP,JP,PPM,DRP and MDP raised similar concerns and asked the Elections Commission to release the funds.
