Ambassador to Maldives from China Zhang Lizhong has stated China has had new developments in containing the spread of novel coronavirus with the support of nations like Maldives.
In a statement released by Ambassador Lizhong on the new developments against the spread of coronavirus, the ambassador said the people who recover are on the rise. The ambassador said China has been transparent in its practices and is strictly adhering to World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines and instructions. He said the remarkable effort of constructing two new hospitals in just 10 days indicate the importance China places in containing and eliminating the virus.
In his statement, Ambassador Lizhong thanked Maldives for the support and attested the close relationship between the two countries. The ambassador noted the recent exchange of a letter from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. He additionally thanked the Maldivian people for all kinds of support the country has been providing for China.
The statement from the ambassador follows the Maldivian donation of 1 million tuna cans to the people of China. Maldivians have also been expressing their solidarity with the Chinese people on various social media platforms.
