The Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has urged the public to avoid placing garbage on streets and public areas during the ongoing rainy season. The appeal comes as heavy rains in various parts of the country pose challenges to waste collection services.
Despite the weather, WAMCO assured that efforts are being made to provide uninterrupted service. However, if waste is not collected due to bad weather, residents are requested to report it by calling the hotline 1666 instead of leaving trash outside.
WAMCO has also announced changes to garbage collection schedules during Ramadan. In Male', collection will take place from 8:30 PM to 2:30 AM, in Hulhumale' from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM, and in Vilimale' from 9:30 PM to 1:30 AM. The public is encouraged to follow these updated timings.
Additionally, WAMCO has reminded residents to properly seal and separate glass or sharp objects when disposing of waste to ensure the safety of waste collectors.
