Sorcery tools discovered in 8 Kulhudhuffushi residences

Police have found items used in sorcery in eight residences in Haa Dhaalu atoll Kulhudhuffushi in an operation launched to search houses on the island following a surge in reported cases of sorcery.
Police conducted searches of ten residences, finding sorcery related paraphernalia in eight houses.
A Police media official said that documents, books and other items used in sorcery were found at these residences. The items have now been seized by police.
The matter is under investigation, but no arrests have been made as of yet.
Mihaaru News reports that a high number of sorcery related cases in Kulhudhuffushi have been reported to Police in the preceding days.
Residents from the island have said that CCTV cameras have been placed in many residences out of concern for rising cases of sorcery. Footage have also been circulating on social media allegedly showing sorcery being conducted in Kulhudhuffushi.
Police have even earlier searched residences and arrested persons in sorcery related cases, such as the recent events in Raa atoll Alifushi and Meedhoo, and Thaa atoll Vilufushi, where police searched a number of houses.
