Bank of Maldives (BML) has partnered with the Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) to offer the Sports Scholarship 2025, marking the third consecutive year of the partnership since the scholarship was first awarded in 2023.
The Sports Scholarship aims to help athletes achieve their sporting potential through targeted programmes. The MOC will oversee the selection of athletes, and nominations will be open to member associations of the MOC. This fully funded scholarship offers athletes the chance to train at globally renowned high-performance training centers.
BML’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said the BML Sports Scholarship is a testament to the bank’s commitment to providing support to the development of athletes in the Maldives. By partnering with MOC, the bank is ensuring that the selection process identifies the most dedicated and promising talent in the country, he said. He further added that investing in local athletes today will strengthen the future of Maldivian sports and open new pathways for international success.
President of MOC, Mohamed Abdul Sattar said MOC is proud to partner with BML on the Sports Scholarship for a third year. Together, the Maldives Olympic Committee and Bank of Maldives are investing in talent, unlocking opportunity, and shaping the future of Maldivian sport, he said.
Since its inception, the Sports Scholarship has successfully supported eight athletes in their professional development. BML has been a steadfast supporter of national sports, including Swimming, Tennis, Basketball and Surfing through strategic partnerships, demonstrating its long-term dedication to sports development in the nation.
