Dhidhdhoo Islamic Centre Named “Shaheedh Umar Ahmed” to Open on the 28th of This Month

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that the Islamic Centre established in H.A. Dhidhdhoo will officially open for Friday prayers on the 28th of this month.
The announcement was conveyed by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, in a message sent to the media today.
The Minister stated that the mosque will be named after Shaheedh Umar Ahmed, a native of Dhidhdhoo who was martyred on November 3rd while serving as an employee of the Malé Islamic Centre.
“God willing, the H.A. Dhidhdhoo Islamic Centre will be opened for Friday prayers on the 28th of this month. The mosque there will be named after Shaheedh Umar Ahmed, a native of that island who was martyred on November 3rd while serving as an employee of the Malé Islamic Centre,” Shaheem said.
He also added that an Islamic Library and an outreach center for the Quran Centre will be inaugurated at the Islamic Centre on the same day.
The Dhidhdhoo Islamic Centre has a capacity for 1,500 worshippers. The project, contracted to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction in May 2023, features a two-story structure that includes a multipurpose hall with seating for 450 people, four classrooms accommodating 30 students each, two seminar rooms, an Islamic library, and an office section.
The total cost of the project is 50.8 million Rufiyaa.
