Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has stated that penalties incurred due to long-outstanding unpaid water bills for households and businesses will be waived again under certain conditions.
In a statement issued by MWSC, it was noted that as part of ongoing efforts to make it easier for customers to settle their water bills, a decision has been made once more to waive the penalties accumulated due to overdue payments on household and business water bills.
Under this decision, penalties accumulated on bills up to 31 December 2025 for both household and business tariff customers of MWSC will be waived. MWSC stated that this waiver will apply to customers who settle the total outstanding amount of their bills, including the overdue amounts, in full between 1 April 2026 and 31 December 2026.
Additionally, customers who wish to settle their bills in instalments on a monthly basis can also arrange this with MWSC. For those paying in instalments, the penalty waiver will be granted once the agreed payments are completed according to the arrangement.
Further information can be obtained by contacting MWSC’s Customer Care Centre or hotline at 105. Alternatively, assistance is available by sending an SMS to 1050 or by emailing to [email protected].
Similar relief measures were also provided last year. At that time, under a specific policy, penalties accumulated up to 1 December 2024 were waived.
