Bloomberg Initiative Grants Program opens for applications

The Bloomberg Initiative Grants Programme has opened for applications, inviting proposals aimed at strengthening tobacco control measures.
This initiative is a collaborative effort between the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) and the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids. Funded by philanthropist Michael R Bloomberg, the initiative focuses on reducing tobacco consumption in low and middle income countries through various global grant activities.
According to the Health Protection Authority (HPA), applications are now being accepted for the 39th round of this grants program. Interested parties are required to submit their proposals online through the official program website.
The HPA further highlighted that the program prioritizes proposals designed to achieve significant policy advancements and systemic changes in tobacco control.
Furthermore, HPA stated that priority will be accorded to proposals focusing on the enforcement of tobacco advertising bans, measures related to tobacco pricing and taxation, and evidence-based technical recommendations. Additionally, emphasis will be placed on proposals aimed at strengthening the implementation of smoking bans in public places.
The deadline for submitting grant applications under this program is Wednesday, 25 February.
