Velana International Airport (VIA)’s Terminal 1 now serves 38 airlines, according to Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), with HiSky's inaugural flight.
A special ceremony was held at VIA to mark the airline’s inaugural flight. The flight’s 222 arriving passengers were welcomed with cultural performances. The passengers were warmly greeted by the Group General Manager of Maldives Inflight Catering, Mr. Ali Shakir; Deputy Manager of Voyages Maldives, Mr. Ignaz Mansoor, representatives from HiSky and MACL Exco Members.
HiSky is a privately owned low-cost airline founded in 2021 by Romanian entrepreneurs and is headquartered in Moldova, showcasing the growing demand to the Maldives from various destinations.
MACL stated they aim to provide a world-class service with exceptional state of the art facilities for all airlines that operate to Maldives, which is synonymous with Maldives’ brand identity as the best travel destination.
