Government committed to advancing sports and healthy living, says the President

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Monday stated that his Administration remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing sports and healthy living in the Maldives. The President made the statement in a social media post shared today to mark World Football Day, extending warm greetings to everyone who shares a passion for the beautiful game that brings people together across the globe.
The President noted that in addition to expanding and upgrading football infrastructure, including the development of FIFA-standard football grounds, the Government has introduced meaningful policy reforms, such as amendments to the Sports Act to further decentralise sports development across the country. He also highlighted efforts focused on creating opportunities for the Maldives to host international football tournaments, strengthening sporting culture, and providing athletes greater exposure on the global stage. He concluded by expressing his encouragement by the spirit of football that continues to unite the people and inspire future generations.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also shared a message on social media to celebrate World Football Day. She stated that football is a universal language that brings together people of all ages and backgrounds, inspiring healthier, happier lives and a shared sense of purpose. She added that it teaches discipline, teamwork, and the importance of playing by the rules, noting that football plays a key role in building responsible and principled citizens. The First Lady concluded with the hope of continuing to build peace, strengthen communities, empower youth to dream bigger, and build a better, sustainable future for all through sports such as football.
