Miladhoo’s coastal and road development work to begin in August: President

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that coastal protection and road development works in N. Miladhoo are scheduled to begin in August.
He made the announcement during an address to Miladhoo residents as part of his ongoing tour of the inhabited islands of South Miladhunmadulu Atoll.
Highlighting the projects prioritised for immediate commencement, President Dr Muizzu stated that the coastal protection work will be carried out by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), while the road development project has been assigned to the Road Development Corporation (RDC).
He noted that while discussions are ongoing with the Island Council to finalise the scope of the coastal protection project, it has already been agreed that work will be carried out in a manner that enables future land reclamation, while also ensuring convenient access for beachgoers, in line with the aspirations of the island’s residents.
Commenting on other ongoing projects in Miladhoo, the President highlighted that the island’s water supply project and the construction of the new health centre are nearing completion. Acknowledging current staffing shortages, he assured residents that additional nurses will be deployed to support the 16-hour operational health facility.
Addressing concerns surrounding housing and employment, the President reaffirmed that the 50-unit housing project in Miladhoo will move forward based on the community’s preference – whether to construct homes individually on private plots or as grouped housing units in a designated area.
President Dr Muizzu further assured residents that all development pledges made to the people of Miladhoo will be delivered as promised.
