The Viceroy Maldives resort which operated at the island of Shaviyani atoll Vagaru is getting rebranded as the JW Marriott.
Under the new name, the JW Marriott will be reopening on November 2019.
The JW Marriott is in fact the first Maldivian property for the US-originated hotel and resort chain group, Marriott International, recognized globally as one of the top most luxury brands in hospitality industry.
Although the official opening of the JW Marriott, or the resort island of Vagaru reopening as an entirely different property this time, has changed several times it has become confirmed the actual opening is now set for November.
According to the resort’s General Manager Mr Mark Gusin, the villas are designed to resemble traditional Maldivian sea vessels – or more notably known as the ‘dhoanis.’ Each of these villas reportedly will boast a space of 2,600 square feet.
The culinary experiences at JW Marriott will also hold true to the brand’s identity and trademark offerings. The resort will deliver its culinary services through specialty restaurants which will boast exclusivity in either Japanese, Thai and local cuisines.
The resort lays at a distance which can be reached by 55 minutes via seaplane from the country’s main getaway for tourists – the Velana International Airport.
Marriott International, listed among the top most recognized and renowned hospitality brands, boasts their properties in 60 different international destinations with a total property count at an impressive 422 hotels.
