India will not ask Nasheed to leave High Commission: NDTV

NDTV has said that India is unlikely to ask former President Mohamed Nasheed to leave the Indian High Commission.
The court has issued a fresh order to the police to arrest Nasheed to bring him before court, and the Maldivian government has requested India to cooperate with taking Nasheed under arrest.
Nasheed can only be arrested if the police are given permission to enter the High Commission, where he has been since Wednesday.
An anonymous official of the Indian External Affairs Ministry told NDTV that it is not likely that the Maldivian police will be given permission to enter the High Commission to arrest Nasheed.
The official also told NDTV that it should be up to Nasheed to decide to attend court or hand himself in to the police.
The police have requested assistance from the Foreign Ministry following the new court order to arrest Nasheed to take him to court.
Nasheed has been in the Indian High Commission for six days. The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (VCDR) states that the premises of foreign embassies are protected and must not be entered even by the security forces of the host country, except with the permission of the head of the mission.
