Interpol has issued red notice in search of a man wanted for the Rf11m fraud case related to Aftec.
Police have published on their website today that the wanted man is Mohamed Abdullah, 41, of M. Woodpecker.
The Police said that he is being searched for in relation to a point noted in the 2010 audit report, that Rf11.8m was given by Mohamed Abdullah to Aftec Solution Private Limited before Aftec provided the services worth Rf12.7m as required by an agreement made between them and Ministry of Health.
Police have been searching for Mohamed Abdullah since 14 May 2012.
Auditor General has advised that following this case, action should be taken against former senior officials of Ministry of Finance, and former members of the Tender Evaluation Board. MDP lead activist Fathimath Shiuna has also been questioned in relation to this case.
The special audit report issued by Auditor General Niyaz Ibrahim states that out of the Rf12.7m worth of supplies, only Rf 930512.15 worth of supplies were delivered; and that Aftec was fraudulently given Rf11.8m.
