A new amendment has been submitted to the parliament to increase the fee for member candidacy.
MP Hussain Mohamed Latheef, who represents ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), presented the amendment to increase the application fee from MVR 5,000 to MVR 15,000. The first draft was presented to the parliament on Wednesday.
A similar revision was recently presented regarding applications for presidential candidacy, where the deposit amount is to be increased from MVR 40,000 to MVR 100,000.
