Blood Bank services officially begins at ADK

For easy availability for blood within the hospital, ADK Hospital has officially opened their Blood Bank today with a Blood Donation Camp.
As the blood bank opened today, the blood drive was held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. A large number of hospital employees and employees of Maldives Medianet also donated in the blood drive.
The Assistant Manager of Public Relations at Maldives Medianet, Simana Ismail said that the company decided to take part in the blood drive on the occasion of their tenth anniversary.
He said that more than 40 employees from Medianet donated blood in today’s Blood Donation Camp.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the blood drive, the Managing Director of ADK, Ahmed Afaal said that they request as many donors as possible. But what’s most important is long time donors.
Afaal said that new donors would receive a temporary card from the hospital. To make that a permanent card, donors have to donate blood twice in the year.
He said that permanent donor card holders would receive ten percent discounts on consultation fees above MVR 20,000. But to maintain it’s validity, they would have to donate twice every year.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the ADK Blood Bank today, Health Minister Iruthisham Adam said that it is very important to store blood safely. And the quality of storage has to be maintained in good quality.
