PPM’s President, Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom have filed a case against PPM saying that PPM handed over the party to Chief Advisor of the party, President Yameen unlawfully.
Civil Court ordered to handover the administration of the party to President Yameen after saying that even though the party has a president the situation is like that there is no president. Civil Court verdict says that, to ensure that the party is running in accordance with the party by laws, the party should be administered by Chief Advisor of the party until they reach a resolution through a national congress of the party.
The court ordered the Chief Advisor to administer the party after two members filed a case at the court when party President Maumoon refused to conduct party council elections.
Both high court and Supreme court decided that the civil court’s verdict was lawful. However, President Maumoon said that the decision was made not in accordance with laws and regulations. The SG of Maumoon faction of PPM Abdul Aleem said that Maumoon filed the case sometime yesterday but has not yet been informed whether they have accepted the case or not.
