President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said on Monday that his government has no other interest except to deliver results.
During his tour of Shaviyani atoll, the President visited Goidhoo and met with residents. Speaking at a public meeting held on the island, he said he was visiting to fulfill his promises and understand the needs of the people.
He said he would assess what has not been achieved for the people and what has gone well. He added that the public will see developmental projects completed this year and the next.
Meanwhile, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) had announced that a shipment of 50,000 tonnes of rock required for construction had arrived in the Maldives. MTCC is currently carrying out port and dredging projects on several islands.
However, residents of some islands have continued to express concern that infrastructure projects have stalled or are not progressing.
The President pledged the following for Goidhoo:
Provide utility services to farmers, as Goidhoo is an agricultural island
Complete and open eight classrooms for the next academic year
Allocate funds for a football stadium in next year’s budget
Construct a volleyball court and handball court
